SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a way to get your website ranked higher on Search Engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing. SEO involves various on-page & off-page SEO work to be done in order to be effective. The benefits of SEO are many. However, the main benefit of SEO would be this – It Gets You FREE Targeted Traffic.

Simply put, traffic derived from SEO is traffic interested in what you offer, and its free! However, SEO is easier said that done, and involves a lot of work, which is quite tedious in nature. So, here’s a SEO Blueprint that can make your job a lot easier.

Ideally, I divide my SEO plan into the following:

1) Research

2) On-Page SEO

3) Off-Page SEO

You start of by doing in-depth Keyword research for your market. This is the first step, and therefore is the most important one. Choose the right keywords, and you make money. Choose the wrong ones, and you’ll reach nowhere. Let me explain:

Keyword Research is basically necessary in order to understand which keywords are getting traffic. At the end of the day, if you’re doing SEO for a keyword that gets no searches, you’re wasting your precious time.

Therefore, Keyword Research is important. A great tool for keyword research is the Google Keyword tool. It gives you the exact estimated traffic for a particular search term. And since it’s from Google, you’re taking it from an official source.

Next is On-Page SEO

On-Page SEO is simply establishing that your website is relevant to what your user is searching for. For example, if you’re selling Cars, and if your website does not mention that in areas Google sees, you simply won’t rank. The trick is to tell Google that your website is related to “Cars”. You can do this simply, by editing the following elements on the page to include your keyword:

a) Title Tag
b) Meta Description Tag
c) Meta Keyword Tag (Useless for Google, but other SE’s give it relevance)
d) H1 Tag
e) Internal Linking
f) Your Site Content (Bold your target keywords on your main page occasionally)

And finally, we come to Off-page SEO

Off-page SEO involves creating authority and increasing popularity of your website online by getting backlinks from other websites. Off-page SEO is the tricky part, since building or rather getting backlinks from quality and authoritative sources is difficult.
